With the bitter taste of defeat still lingering in their mouths and a little rain soaked, the F/S team started strong against Xavier and looked like the team we have come to expect to see step on the field. The Lions seemed to play as if they didn't even have their first loss a little more than 12 hours prior to the start of this game, which was very refreshing to see. Both offense and defense played well, with the offense producing many opportunities to score and the defense putting a stop to the Xavier attack. Xavier struck first putting the Lions down 1-0, but this didn't deter the young Lion team in there efforts to stay unbeaten in the conference. The boys soon struck the equalizer, which came from Tyler Splinter who followed an original shot from Dan Radig. As the second half got under way it was somewhat of a back and fourth battle with neither team maintaining good possession of the ball, although the Lions did seem to maintain their composer and put more passes together than their opponents. The game winner came with about 5 minutes left in the game. It came off of a well struck shot by Josh Storla, which came from a corner kick by Tyler Splinter (giving Tyler a goal and an assist for the match). The players all agreed that for the game winning goal and other efforts on the field Josh Storla was selected as Man of the Match.
