Barden signs Letter of Intent...

Our 25th year started off in a great way on Wednesday, Feb. 3, as Senior, Charles Barden became the first Linn-Mar Mens Soccer player to sign his Letter of Intent to play collegiate soccer at the NCAA Div. 1 level.  Barden, a midfielder and 2nd Team All-State player, has committed to playing at Valparaiso University.  You may remember that he burst onto the scene his Sophomore year and scored the game-winning goal to help the Lions advance to their 3rd State Tournament, with a victory over Waterloo West.  Check out the 2008 footage on the video page, through the Photo Album tab.

Online Order Windows Closing...

As new players sign-up still and some missed the deadline for online orders.  The window has reopened until Friday Feb. 5.  After that, you will NOT be able to order anything other than practice shirts/shorts, as we will do a bulk order as needed closer to the start of practice.  Please note, that there are new forms/codes for ordering, but the process is the same.  Go to the apparel tab above and follow the directions to ordering.

Ordering & Expectations...

Nearly all of this year's ordering will be done online from Jan 1-20, 2010.  The only exception are meal costs and the expense for socks that all players need; this should be paid by check.  As far as apparel goes, each player is expected to have at least one "practice shirt" and "player short".  Anything beyond that is optional.  To find out what is available and how to order, go to the above Apparel tab and click on the link(s) to the form(s) you are interested in; the first two forms are the most important.  Each player is also expected to sell our team shirt, and if the minimum sold is met, your team warm-up will be yours at no expense!

First Meeting Over; Bigger and Better Things to Come...

Wednesday, 1/13 has passed, what's the significance you ask...we had our annual preseason meeting with players and parents, did you miss it.  Don't worry, but hurry, you don't have much time to get things in order.  The ordering window for required and optional apparel closes on the 20th and your opportunity to help with the fundraisers and to get a free warmup is coming up quick too; February 1.  Click on this link to see the meeting notes and see Coach Brinkmeyer ASAP to pick up what you can.  March 15th will be here quicker than you expect.

Follow Linn-Mar Mens Soccer on Twitter...

In hopes to keep you parents and players more informed and as a way to save our school district money by not sending out snail mail, we will now be using Twitter to send messages as well as email.  We've found that many of our students no longer check emails regularly to get "urgent" messages to them and despite our best efforts, don't have all parents' emails.  So I discovered that we can send short messages that, if you enable it, will send them to your cell phone as a text message (standard text message rates apply).  Directions on how to set up your own Twitter account can be found by clicking on this link.  If you really have no interest in using Twitter, but want to receive these announcements, please know that after setting up your account, you never have to go online to Twitter again!! 

Unlike most Twitter accounts used for socializing and catching up, this will be used for messaging.  During the off-season messages will be few and far between, but as the season gets closer and going, they may be more frequent, but probably not daily so as not to ramp up messaging charges for those of you that may not have an unlimited plan.

New Players...
In order to get new players and their parents on our interest and email distribution lists, we ask that you click above on the new player tab and choose Registration.  A PDF file will open for you to fill out and submit the information that we are gathering.  We need all new players to do this ASAP.  Thank you.
