On Monday (5/21), the Lions will travel to Muscatine to play in the opening round of the IAHSAA’s Substate #5 pool. The Lions will play North Scott, at the Muscatine Soccer Complex at 5pm.
Prior to this year, North Scott was a regular member of the Linn-Mar Challenger Cup Tournament; this was the first year they did not participate. Since 2013, Linn-Mar was 3-0 when facing the Lancers, and outscored North Scott, 8-0. But none of that means much when your season is on the line…Expect a hard-fought match by both teams, who want to advance, and get their shot at upsetting the #1 team in the pool, Iowa City-City High.
The University of Iowa will play host to the semifinals and finals on May 23 and May 26, respectively.
It’s a little unusual for a Friday night soccer game, under the lights, but this week it’s happening at Linn-Mar Stadium!! And just like how Friday nights in the fall are a big deal for an (American) high school football game, we want to make this Friday night a big deal, as well. JV1 & Varsity will host Iowa City High, with kickoffs at 5:15 & 7:00, respectively. For this one special night, we’re asking students, parents, and ALL Linn-Mar fans to wear white to the game(s). The Lions and the Little Hawks have had some great battles, as of late, and the expectation is that this contest will be nothing short of that.
Invite a friend, make sure your white player shirt (if you bought one) is clean, and come root on the Lions, as they head into the home stretch of the 2018 season.
