Back to school also means back to soccer

It was great seeing so many familiar faces today for the first day of school (9-12). We’re going to hit the ground running on Monday, with strength training, at 4:30; players should meet in the cafeteria. Strength & Conditioning sessions will continue during the first quarter every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Check our calendar for more details.

Also, Homecoming is coming up at the end of September, and we are planning to take part in the annual parade, again. All players are welcome, a sign-up will be made available soon. Look for LMTV announcements in the coming weeks.

If you are a new player to our program, please take a few minutes to complete the New Player Registration!! This little bit of information gives the coaches a preview of what you bring to our program, but more importantly, it gets you and your parents onto our distro list for future communications. The sooner you can get to this, the better…Fall always flies by, and once winter rolls around, other training options will start up.

Good luck to all of you playing on a local club team this fall!

Training Preparations

We’re just days away, now, from our spring season beginning.  Please note and act upon the following recommendations below before practices begin.

  1. Final reminder to check with Coach Brinkmeyer to ensure that all Required Forms are current and submitted.  This also includes making sure that new players have completed their Baseline Concussion Test with one of our Athletic Trainers.
    • If practices begin, and forms are not completed, the player in question will not be allowed to participate.
    • There will be no way to double-check with the Athletic Office, and will be based on what was recorded, and what is handed in to the coaching staff during the week.
  2. If you will be absent from any practices during Spring Break, please send Coach Brinkmeyer an email with the dates the player will be missing.
  3. Jimmy Johns orders are still being accepted, as are sticker and scarf purchases.  Please have these purchases made by Friday, March 31st.

  4. Below you will find the schedule for the first two weeks of practice.  Please be early to practice (5-10 minutes, oras long as it takes the player to become properly equipped).  Times listed are when we start, not when players should arrive.  If players are not ready when we start, he will be considered late, and will have additional conditioning to complete before practice begins.
    • During spring break, we expect to stick to this schedule, even if we need to move inside because of inclement weather.  However, during the week that we return to school, if we need to move inside, it is likely that practice times will change due to availability and the number of teams needing to share the same spaces.
    • If inside, and when the weather allows, please wear black shorts, gray practice tee, and gray socks.
    • If below 50 degrees, please dress accordingly (pants are optional, but a jacket or sweatshirt will be required; hat and gloves are suggested).  Players will be not be allowed to practice, if not appropriately dressed for adverse weather conditions, and will be sent home.
    • Players should always have a pair of flats/indoor shoes with them in case we are forced to practice inside, unexpectedly.
    • PARENTS & FANS: A reminder that all practices and scrimmages, unless otherwise noted, are closed to the public.
  5. Team rosters will be determined following the last scrimmage on March 25th, and announced on our website.
    • Team Pictures are currently scheduled for March 31.

Final Checklist

As Spring nears and the “off-season” becomes the “pre-season”, we have listed a few things, below, that each player needs to do in order to be ready for the start of the 2017 season.

  • If players missed the deadline to order team apparel, he will need to purchase (or have available) similar items to those that are “required” for practice and/or games.  Some items may be available from Coach Brinkmeyer.  Keep an eye out for an email about this as our opening practice date nears.  See the Required Items page for details of what each player needs.
  • Decide if you would like to purchase a meal (provided on away game dates), if you want to order our new soccer supporter scarf/scarves, or a sticker for your car(s) showing your loyalty to our program.  Download the order form here, turn in to the high school cashier with payment by April 1st.
  • Check in with Coach Brinkmeyer about the required forms, and if they are current and on file.  If they are out of date or not on file, you/your son will not be allowed to practice until they ALL are.  This includes:
    1. Current Physical…good for one year
    2. LM Good Conduct/Concussion Waiver/Off-Campus Agreements…good for the entire school year
    3. Current Medical Card (fluorescent green)…good for the entire school year
    4. Permission to Drive Form…due to practices being held away from the high school
  • PARENTS: if you still have not received any emails from Coach Brinkmeyer, please email him at linnmarsoccer@gmail.com, and you will be added to the email distribution list. During the season, most announcements will be shared via Twitter and Facebook.
