Back to school also means back to soccer

It was great seeing so many familiar faces today for the first day of school (9-12). We’re going to hit the ground running on Monday, with strength training, at 4:30; players should meet in the cafeteria. Strength & Conditioning sessions will continue during the first quarter every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Check our calendar for more details.

Also, Homecoming is coming up at the end of September, and we are planning to take part in the annual parade, again. All players are welcome, a sign-up will be made available soon. Look for LMTV announcements in the coming weeks.

If you are a new player to our program, please take a few minutes to complete the New Player Registration!! This little bit of information gives the coaches a preview of what you bring to our program, but more importantly, it gets you and your parents onto our distro list for future communications. The sooner you can get to this, the better…Fall always flies by, and once winter rolls around, other training options will start up.

Good luck to all of you playing on a local club team this fall!

IAHSSCA recognizes two LM players

Now that the season has come to a close, the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association has released its All-State Teams and Senior All-Star Game participants.  Linn-Mar players were included on both lists.

Noah Martin will participate in the IAHSSCA Senior All-Star game, this Saturday, at Valley Stadium in Des Moines. He will join 17 other players (5 from the MVC) on the East Team, which will be coached by Curt Lewis, head coach at CR Prairie.  Noah led the Lions in minutes played, this season, and scored two goals from his center back position, including the game-winning goal against eventual State Champs, Iowa City West. More details about the All-Star game can be found here.  Congratulations Noah!

Danny Peak has been recognized by the IAHSSCA, and coaches from across the state, by being named to the 2017 3A All-State Team.  Danny is recognized as a member of the Honorable Mention team, and is one of 13 MVC players in class 3A. Danny was the offensive, statistical leader for the Lions, this season, scoring 5 goals and assisting on 7 more. Danny had one game-winning goal (against Cedar Falls), and had a goal in each of the three big wins in mid-April versus ranked opponents Iowa City West, CR Washington, and CR Xavier.  He also had the game-winning assist(to Martin) in the win over West. The full list of All-State players can be found here.

We also want to wish “Good Luck” to two graduating seniors who will be continuing their soccer-playing careers at the next level.  Noah Martin will play at Wartburg College, in Waverly, IA.  Cody Ritter will continue at Indian Hills Community College, in Ottumwa, IA. Info about other Lions who played in college can be found here.

Photos Available on Shutterfly

In an effort to share photos from our games, and other events, we have established a Shutterfly Team Share Site.  This is an independent website that we have set up which allows parents, and other individuals, the opportunity to share photos with our entire Linn-Mar Soccer Family.  The site is designed to give users full access to download, and print photos.  *We expect anyone sharing photos in this matter, has this expectation. The coaches may also elect to use these photos online, and via social media, to help promote our program.  Thank you to everyone who contributes to these great photo albums!!

To access, go to the Media > Photos > Shutterfly Team Photo Site
